Module Overviews

“Getting Started” pages serve as the entry point for each module in the course. Their purpose is to orient students to the topic, explain expectations, and provide a clear roadmap for the work ahead before students begin engaging with the learning materials and assessments.

The pages were intentionally designed to balance clarity, structure, and simplicity. Rather than overwhelming students with long blocks of instructions, information is organized into concise sections that help students quickly understand what they need to know and what they need to do.

The page design prioritizes immediate orientation and clear navigation. The module introduction and primary navigation elements are always visible so students can immediately understand the purpose of the module and move to the next step without unnecessary scrolling or searching.

Supporting information—such as module outcomes, tasks, and preparation guidance—is organized into expandable sections. This approach keeps the page visually clean while still allowing students to access detailed information when needed. It also improves scanability and helps students focus on one section at a time rather than confronting a long, text-heavy page.

The “Continue to Learning Materials” callout box creates a clear transition between the overview content and the instructional materials for the module. This design supports a more structured navigation flow and helps students clearly identify the next step in the learning process.

Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes dropdown provides students with a clear overview of what they should be able to do after completing the module. These outcomes guide both instruction and assessment, helping ensure alignment between learning materials, activities, and graded assignments while keeping the page visually organized and easy to navigate.

Module Tasks

The module tasks dropdown provides students with a concise checklist of everything they need to complete for the week, including readings, videos, discussions, quizzes, and assignments. Organizing tasks within a collapsible section helps reduce information overload, supports time management, and allows students to quickly reference course requirements throughout the module.
